In the heart of the province of Alicante and nestled in the mountains lies T\u00e0rbena. A small village with winding narrow streets, views and a number of natural water sources. T\u00e0rbena is surrounded by almond groves and there is a quiet authentic Spanish atmosphere. Between January and March the mountains around T\u00e0rbena color white and pink because then the almond trees are full of flowers with blossoms.<\/p>\n

Although the village of T\u00e0rbena with its 600 inhabitants is a small village, it is fully equipped. T\u00e0rbena has a supermarket where you can go for daily groceries. Every Thursday there is a local market where, among other things, fresh vegetables from the region are sold. Also for fresh bread<\/g> you do not have to drive far, T\u00e0rbena has 2 bakeries, 1 of which bakes on a wood fire in a traditional way.<\/p>\n

In the area of gastronomy<\/g> you are at the right place in T\u00e0rbena. The village has 8 (bar) restaurants<\/a> with different cuisines. Eat a delicious paella? Do you enjoy gastronomic delights or slide into one of the bars and taste delicious Spanish tapas?<\/p>\n

There is also a pattiserie<\/g> present with delicious pastries, a pharmacy and two swimming pools;
Sa Piscina is the village swimming pool where you and your locals take a job and enjoy refreshments in the restaurant.
The pool of Restaurant Sa Cantarella, enjoy lunch on the terrace with beautiful views and then take a refreshing dip in the pool.<\/p>\n

T\u00e0rbena is also called “the starting point for the most beautiful walks in the Costa Blanca<\/a>“. Various walks start from the village.<\/p>\n

One of the walks brings you to Sa Caseta de Moros, this ruin is a remnant of a Moorish castle. The view from this point is breathtaking.<\/p>\n

T\u00e0rbena is built around various water sources, many of these sources still work today and are used for drinking water. A walk through the village leads you along some sources and viewpoints.<\/p>\n

Like many Spanish villages, Tarbena has its own village pool. Water is scarce in Spain and private pools are therefore increasingly not allowed. At the pool is a small bar \/ restaurant, you lack nothing.<\/p>\n

Precisely because the pool is also used by villagers you are in the real Spain.<\/p>\n

THE HISTORY OF T\u00c0RBENA<\/h2>\n

T\u00e0rbena has a rich history, which goes all the way back to prehistoric times. For example, in the caves ‘Coveta de les Lletres’ and ‘Cove de Dalt’ traces can be found, left by primitive inhabitants. But otherwise little is known about the time before 1607. Arabs were chased by Philips III from Spain, after which people from Aragon and Catalonia went into the mountains.<\/p>\n

Seventeen families from Mallorca settled in T\u00e0rbena and took their own language and used it. The inhabitants of the village still speak the Majorcan dialect and traditionally prepare Mallorcan sausages (Sobrasada). The name T\u00e0rbena has an Iberian meaning: ‘Tarb’ means high and refers to the high location of the village.<\/p>\n
